130 Sapphire Sa.7 material sets 520 Sapphire Sa.6 (Javelin) engines and ECUs 9 Sapphire Sa.5 (English Electric) 6 Sapphire Sa.7 engines for Victor second prototype 6 Sapphire Sa.6 for Vulcan prototype In addition a number of smaller development contracts have been recieved from the MoS: 1) Viper licence signed with Dassault, France; payment of £50,000 received, together with order for 6 engines value approx. 30,000. 2) Sapphire Sa.6 orders for France still under discussion. Definite promise of 3 units, contract to be signed next week amounting to approximately £110,000 including accessories. 3) Switzerland: Preliminary Sapphire licence negotiations in progress; basic agreement reached, but further action will depend on Swiss Parliament. 4) Two Sa.6 engines have been sent to Curtis Wright and two more are awaiting despatch instructions; total value, £140,000. 5) Preliminary negotiations with the Belgian Government and Societe general concerning: a) Direct order for Sapphire Sa.6 engines for Gloster Javelin. The number of engines estimated at 100 to 250; value of order £2.5m to £5m, without spares. b) Eventual Sapphire licence to be implemented in 3 phases. 6) 450 engines for Italy with NATO help. The value of the order would not be less than £1.5m Items 5 and 6 depend entirely on the results of Javelin trials by the US evaluation team and favourable decision of NATO and Off-Shore authorities. We are still in contact with the Yugoslav Government. Finally, we had two enquiries, one of which seems to be promising, for rocket motors for France
