Plans

This subgroup comprises the plans drawn by different partners during the lifetime of the firm and its predecessor partnerships, and includes material drawn or used for reference.

Unfortunately the original order of the firm's plans was disturbed, but it is likely that some plans were filed in the office on shelves or in drawers alphabetically by client. Some items were numbered and probably used more frequently for reference (D-NAJ/E/4). The majority of the plans, however, were kept in a large wooden lidded box, approx. 0.7m wide, 2m long and 1m deep.

Many items lack annotations such as a title, author or date; many again are in poor physical condition and require careful handling. In some cases items have been attributed to individual partners on stylistic or dating grounds.
