MISCELLANEOUS; DEEDS, LEASES, PAPERS

The following documents (WH1/5489-6195) consist of deeds, leases and estate papers relating to properties not apparently connected with any of the families for whom Panter and Whitford acted. Several schemes were considered for the arrangement of these documents, including that of division by family. This was discarded, as although the names of some families occur quite frequently, such groups were not considered comprehensive enough to form separate family sections. Families represented include Basset of Tehidy, Harvey of Hayle, St. Aubyn, Boscawen, and a number of local St. Columb families including those of Drew and Rowse.

The St. Columb Major section is naturally much the biggest, and contains a considerable amount of material relating to the parish, including deeds, leases, plans, and some tithe and other parish documents.

The final arrangement is alphabetical by parish; none of the documents in this section fell naturally into any other grouping, and this system appeared to be the most straightforward for general use.
