Major Dennis was a regular soldier who joined the Royal Artillery in 1916, served between the wars in the Army Education Corps, was commissioned in 1940 and was assigned to work on War Crimes Trials, Far East in June 1946. He served as a member of the court in several famous minor trials, and the collection mainly comprises his rough notes on the proceedings of six separate trials at which he was a member of the court.
