Custodial history (Describes where and how the record has been held from creation to transfer to The National Archives)
-
These papers were transferred to this library in November 1970 together with the items listed at 288 ULL 1-9 above. The papers were originally preserved in three boxes labelled "Papers relating to the Wesleyan Chapel, Benn's Garden" and "MSS from Sudley".
Benn's Garden Chapel was sold to the Welsh Methodists in 1814, after the Unitarians had moved to their new chapel in Renshaw Street. It would appear that these papers have been in the possession of Miss Holt, but no mention of the papers, or of Benn's Garden Chapel after 1814, appears in Walking Together, and the provenance of these papers is unknown.
