Correspondence, minute papers, drafts, and memoranda related to the drafting and issue of The Muscat Order in Council, 1939. The correspondence is principally between officials at the India Office, Foreign Office, Government of India (External Affairs), and Political Residency in the Persian Gulf. The order was necessary to conform to the provisions of a new Treaty of Friendship between Britain and Muscat. Papers of note include:. A draft copy of the new Treaty of Friendship, 1939 (folios 143-148); The Maskat [Muscat] Order in Council, 1915 (folios 114-126); The Maskat (Amendment) Order in Council, 1922 (folios 127-128); The Muscat Order in Council, 1939 (folios 29-45); Memorandum entitled 'Interest of the French Government in relations between His Majesty's Government and Muscat', by Lacy Baggallay, Eastern Department, Foreign Office, 19 December 1939 (folios 14-15)
