INTRODUCTION
The contents of this file were formerly in one bundle, labelled "Great Tew, Cashier’s Vouchers and Correspondence, 1816 to 1818" (132).
The contents of the file are arranged in five sequences, as follows:
Journal vouchers.
Other bills.
Correspondence.
Miscellaneous papers.
Cash and Bills Received accounts. The vouchers are arranged in the order of the corresponding journal entries. The principal vouchers are communications from M. R. Boulton, J. Watt, & Co., to which the other bills are vouchers in turn. 32 bears a reference to p. 50, but there appears to be no corresponding entry on that page.
For the bills in the second sequence ("Other bills") there appear to be no entries in the journal, though in some cases these may exist.
However, some of these bills carry explicit references to entries in other books; for instance, the bill of Cope & Cutler (73) is marked as having been entered in M. R. Boulton’s Private account (Personal).
The Cash and Bills Received accounts were formerly among the Journal Vouchers, but have been separated for ease of reference.
Four bills found (apparently misfiled) in this bundle have been transferred to the Cashier’s Vouchers and Correspondence, 1819. -
