Working papers and other material relating to Money's background research for his publication Capri: Island of pleasure'. Comprising: One medallion, 1808 One box containing a decorated tile, piece of a mosaic, pottery and other artefacts Four cassettes of radio interviews given by Money with BBC Radio Two, Radio Wales, and others Twelve boxes of 35mm colour slides of houses, churches, hotels, people and topographical scenes One box of lectures, notes and draft chapters One box of research notebooks 56 ring binder folders and loose bundles of notes and photographs relating to people, institutions, businesses, religion, archaeology, hotels and pensions, etc.

Immediate source of acquisition
Bequeathed after Money's death in 1991 to UCL Library in accordance with an existing arrangement between Money, the Librarian F J Friend and J R Hale, Professor of Italian. Transferred to Special Collections in January 1992.

James Money was a historian who lived on the Italian island of Capri. He wrote 'Capri: Island of pleasure' (London, 1986), a social history of Capri which documents its various visitors through the centuries and their impressions of the island.
