By JOHN CARYLL of Lady Holt in West Harting, esq., to MARY WHETHAM, widow, in £3000
Reciting deed of 9 December, 1740, between the Duke and Marquis of Powis (1) the said John Caryll (2) Elizabeth Caryll and Catherine Caryll, sisters of the said John Caryll (3) and the Hon. Thomas Whetham, esq., late husband of the said Mary (4) whereby the Manor of Washington and divers messuages, farms, mills, lands &c. of the said John Caryll in Washington, Findon and West Harting were made security by way of Mortgage to the said Thomas Whetham for £10,000 and £1500 for arrears of interest was due on the 9 December then instant and the said John Caryll had agreed to enter into the above bond for the payment of the said £1500 with interest
