Fragmentary reminiscences (18pp, written May 1971) relating to his service in the ranks of the Nottinghamshire Yeomanry also known as the Sherwood Rangers (5th Cavalry Brigade) in Palestine, January 1940 - ?July 1941, and with the Military Police in the Sudan, January 1943; and, including: the voyage from Lincolnshire to Haifa, Palestine in January 1940; active service in Palestine, participating in mounted patrols and guarding the oil pipe lines, January 1940 - ?November 1940, notably enforcing the curfew in Tel Aviv with a cavalry charge; on coastal defence duties with 'A' Battery, Sherwood Rangers during the siege of Tobruk, ? February 1941 - ?July 1941, and the evacuation from Tobruk in a Norwegian whaling vessel, ?July 1941; and a journey along the Nile from Wadi Halfa, January 1943. Also included are miscellaneous papers mainly relating to his service with the Military Police in the Sudan, July 1941 - 1945, notably his Territorial Army enlistment papers (May 1938); his Military Police identity card (July 1941); a Sudan Almanac (1941 edition); programmes and pictures of various sporting events in the Sudan (1941 - 1942); bills and accounts (February 1943 - March 1943); a souvenir programme, Sudan (January 1944); and a Khartoum War Memorial appeal pamphlet (1945).
