Description (What the record is about)
-
Letters from James Watt Jr. to William Creighton, head of the Drawing Office, from 1823 and 1824. The bundle also contains some letters simply addressed to “Boulton Watt & Co.”, and one letter to Matthew Robinson Boulton dated 17 May 1824, which was docketed by the Drawing Office staff and kept with the letters to Creighton.
This bundle was examined by Henry Hazleton in the 1890s, as it has a card cover in the same style as the previous large bundles. From the discolouring on the top and bottom letters it appears that Hazleton preserved Creighton’s arrangement rather than combining two previously separate yearly bundles.
The letters are dated as follows:
Nos. 2-34. 1823
Nos. 35-70. 1824 -
