The records of the estates and legal departments have been brought together in this sub-fonds. Their activites appear to have crossed over in many respects, paticularly when it came to land purchases and disposals. The estates subsub-fonds includes terriers, compulsory purchase orders, and volumes of land acquisitions and disposals whilst the legal subsub-fonds is less populated but includes several deeds and a guide to the insurance of a new town. Further documents recording the activites of the legal department can be found in the board papers and the administrative files.
