The Rents Sub-Committee was appointed in March 1859. Its purpose was initially to produce a monthly statement as to the rents received or owing at each quarter for use of public buildings and convey reports from the Treasurer?s Department on the committee?s Municipal and Improvement Accounts. There were originally three sub-committees; the Town Hall, the Municipal Buildings and the Finance and Rents Sub-Committees. Currently, no records are available other than those of the Rents Sub-Committee. In November 1879, all three sub-committees were amalgamated under the Building and Finance Sub-Committee.
