Crow Wood Hospital was completed in 1899 as the Widnes Isolation Hospital. After the establishment of the NHS in 1948 it was used at first for post-operative patients, and then in 1955 physically and mentally handicapped children. Subsequently it was used for mentally handicapped and geriatric patients. It is now closed.
