Under the will of Francis Boughton of Cawston Hall, Dunchurch, in 1707, a sum of £400 was left to seven appointed trustees to buy land and build a free school for all children of Dunchurch with a schoolmaster able to keep accounts, to be paid from rents of property in Coventry; and £200 of the sum was to buy land the rents of which were to support two poor boys of Dunchurch per year as apprentices
