Gallantry Notes: MC: For conspicuous gallantry during a raid. He rushed a machine gun up to a crater of a newly exploded mine and by his pluck and skill, held the enemy off for forty minutes until our raiding party had withdrawn. He and his team were under heavy fire.;

Other Data: Roll of Honour, Vol II, Sect 2, p 243 - portrait: only son of the late Frederick Leonard Woodall by his wife Alice ( 46 Latchmerre Rd, Kingston-on-Thames,) d. of John Edward Jones; born, The Flan, Hereford 10/8/1897; educ Hereford Cathedral Sch, West Heath Sch, Hampstead and Ellesmere College; joined College OTC in 1912; gazetted 2Lt OX & B LI Aug 1915; transf MGC Jan 1916; served BEF F&F from March 1916; severely wounded at capture of Guillemont 3/9/16; on recovery, to Egypt June 1917 and KIA at Wadi Hesi, Palestine 8/11/17, Buried in Deir Sineid Mil Graves. Awarded MC (LG 26/9/16) for gallant conduct and devotion to duty in the field" and later the Parchment of the Irish Brigade. Was Prefect of Hall, Capt of Cricket & Hockey and Capt of Shooting at OTC when at Ellesmere College. Unmarried.;
