23rd Feb. 1857. Mr. Thomas Boardman from Cornbrook Park near Manchester declining the Mayor's invitation.

22nd July 1857. Letter on behalf of the Marquis of West-minster, to John Walker, acknowledging receipt of the petition re the Mersey Conservancy Bill which he presented in the House of Lords last Monday.

31st Aug. 1857. J.Hicklin from Queen's Park, Chester, to E. Roberts, Esq. He will attend to the Music Hall account that week and is going to London to consult Mr.Beale as to its future occupation which he cannot continue under present terms and regulations after Sept.28.

n.d. Rough note of rent due for half-year 1 Sept.1857 for stable in Walls Lane from the Assignee of Mr.Chalton, grocer, Northgate St.

2nd Sept.1857. Ed. Roberts from Treasurer's Office, to P.S. Humberston, Esq., concerning a rent due and concerning a debt. It is not right that the liability of half a dozen Directors should continue.

30th Nov. 1857. Wm. Topham from the Barrs, Chester, to Mr. J. Paul, acknowledging the circular re the Race Committee Meeting tomorrow but his father is from home.

1st Dec. 1857. Draft minutes of Racing Committee

[Watermark 1857] Draft of appeal on behalf of Grand Stand Proprietors and Racing Committee to provide stakes for the May Race. The appeal is being extended to Railway Co., Brewers and other firms.

1857/8. Two copy letters a) 2nd Dec. 1857 addressed to Mr. Topham, forwarded by Mr. Griffith, sending a copy resolution of a meeting of the Racing Committee held yesterday. With respect to the Stakes which the Committee have decided upon Spring meeting, he requests that he will, as soon as he has prepared the programme for the meeting and before it is published, submit it to Mr. Quon (?) and Mr. Morris.

b). 13th Jan. 1858. J.Paul to Mr. E.W.Topham, sending a copy resolution passed that day at a meeting of Race Committee, desiring that in future he will exhibit the Trade Plate Handicap to the Stewards before publishing the Racing Committee.

18th March, n.d. Geo Egerton from Adelphi Theatre or 12 Stafford St., Liverpool - with envelope addressed to John Walker, asking whether he can obtain the Music Hall at Chester for the Race week for a musical entertainment (including a few petite operas).
