Description (What the record is about)
-
The records of patients form a complex series, a reflection of the increased diversity of patient services. Initially, the patients were classified only as in-patients or out-patients and their details recorded in the relevant register. Gradually, as the medical staff became increasingly professional and developed expertise in particular fields, new, specialised departments were created with a concomitant increase in the different types of records generated.
