The record is paginated p1-p51 and is a draft copy of accounts of experiments by Henry Cavendish. Maxwell 1879, pxliv states that this record is the second of four that were intended to form a book and be published (HY/1/7/1, HY/9, HY/10 and HY/8).
This record is enclosed in a covering paper with a note in William Snow Harris' writing: "No 9 Part I of Experiments Bearing on the Mathematical theory of Electricity this appears to be a revised copy of the Experiment Papers marked No 2 [number crossed out and replaced in pencil by "11"] and supplies the [illegible] or missing Pages there mentioned. Much of this copied by the M.S. Papers". At the top of the cover note is "No 9" written in red pen and illegible pencil writing.
