Description (What the record is about)
-
Memorandum between Mr McLean, Port Sunlight and Mr L.V. Fildes, Lever House discussing Hudson's former employees and the Co-Partnership Trust. Following a conversation with Dr Peck, Mr Barnish informed Mr McLean that a large number of Hudson's employees had been discharged due to a re-organisation. Employees had been paid a sum of money and signed a document rescinding all claims against the Co-Partnership Trust and Hudsons. The Co-Partnership Department had received no notification from Hudsons on this matter. Mr Bootham Roberts confirmed that this was the case and provided a list of six spinsters who are to be considered for Preferential Certificates: - Miss Elizabeth Clinton "r "n- Miss Rose A. Barrett "r "n- Miss Helena Boyle "r "n- Miss Sarah Lane "r "n- Miss Mary Knock "r "n- Miss Jemima Stephens Mr Fildes acknowledged that there had been a misunderstanding between Hudsons and the Co-Partnership Department. To avoid confusion in the future, he suggests that the procedure should be explained clearly to all Associated Companies and all Departments of the Parent Company involved in the discharge of employees. 29 October 1926 and 1 November 1926 [For related correspondence see catalogue entry GB1752.LBC/136/111]
