Description (What the record is about)
-
In the summer of 1911 Felpham Wall was described as being 'in a dilapidated condition and was liable, in the event of a heavy storm, to collapse' and it was ordered that the wall should be repaired and refaced, the tender of Herbert Seymour for £191 8s. being accepted. The work was carried out under the supervision of H. P. Tufnail, a Bognor architect and engineer, and was completed by September 1911
In January 1912 an extension of the wall to the west (as in LD/I/MC22) was proposed, in view of the decay of the existing wooden breastwork. A View was held in February 1912 after which the proposal was shelved, the Commissioners only ordering that the existing wall should be thoroughly repaired
