Description

To his friends and executors Charles Scrase of Wimbledon, Surrey, esq, and John Griffith of Lombard Street, London, woollen draper, all his freehold and copyhold lands, household goods, plate, linen and furniture in trust to sell it for the best price, and dispose of the money thus raised as follows:

1 To CS £200 and also all his tools, fishing tackle, books, copybooks and manuscripts

2 To JG £200

3 To Sarah, Ann and Jane Wheatly, £1000 each

4 To his friend Lancelot Storey, of Chelsea, esq, £100

5 To William Stafford of Lewes, butcher, £400

6 To John Hale of Fleet Street, London, peruke-maker, £300

7 To Stephen Hale of Highgate, Middlesex, shoemaker, £300

8 To Sarah, wife of John Walker of or near Garlick Hill, London, £300

9 To Mary, wife of Isaac Virgoe of Lewes, £500

10 To Thomas and Isaac Virgoe her children £10 a piece

11 To servants Elizabeth Deval and John Stace £40 each, to Elizabeth Smith £20

12 Residue to Sarah, Ann and Jane Wheatley

Witnesses: E Verral, Henry Verral, William Verral

Codicil, 5 Jun 1763

1 To Mrs Elizabeth Wheatley of Lewes, widow, £100

2 To CS and JG a further £100 each

3 To Elizabeth Deval and John Stace a further £10 each

4 To Mary Virgoe a further £100
