The Bury branch of this association was established in 1886 to provide sickness benefits, widows pensions and other financial assistance to local preachers in the Wesleyan, United Methodist, and Wesleyan Reform Union churches. After the creation of the separate Radcliffe Wesleyan circuit in 1889, it was known as the Bury and Radcliffe branch.
