Town Clerks general paperwork relating to the provision of water supplies in Bath

Records relating to the supply of water to various parts of the City and Borough of Bath, and the general administration of the Corporation's Waterworks during the 18th and 19th Centuries.
These records cover the whole range of administrative issues relating to the City waterworks, reflective of the wide ranging role played by the Town Clerk at this time. The series includes: correspondence from the public with requests to be supplied with water from the Corporation's mains; correspondence with legal professionals regarding the legal positions of the Corporation in relation to its waterworks; correspondence and reports for the Cold Water Committee, the body of Aldermen and Councillors who advised the full Council on the management of the works; surveys and reports on the physical upkeep and maintenance of the works; correspondence regarding financial concerns of the waterworks; correspondence with Government and Government bodies regarding finance and acquisition of legal powers; and plans showing the layout or intended layout of pipes and sources of water.
