Models of churches

1712-13. Bill of John Tufnell, joiner, for models of two churches according to designs by William Dickinson, and for staking site of church in Westminster (f.1).

1713-14. Bill of James Gibbs for models of four unnamed churches and a column for a statue of Queen Anne (f.2). Also a bill of Nicholas Hawksmoor for models of churches and steeples to the designs of Archer, Vanbrugh, James, and himself, 6 June 1717 (f.3).

6 August 1733. List by Hawksmoor of models of churches designed by himself, Archer, Gibbs, James, and Dickinson (f.4).

23 May 1716. Report by Hawksmoor and James recommending that James Hands and James Ellis, and Robert Wetherill and Chrisostom Wilkins be both employed on plasterers' work to provide specimens (f.51).

10 August 1716. Memorial by the same requesting directions for the enclosure of the old churchyard at Greenwich; covering the three churches in Stepney; purchase of land for a burial ground at Stratford Bow; foundations of church in Lombard Street (f.53r-v).

[1 October 1716]. Certificate by James of work completed on churches at the Strand, Greenwich, Westminster, Bloomsbury, Wapping, Deptford, Spitalfields, and Limehouse (f.55r-v).

13 February 1718. Report by the same recommending the appointment of an assistant in each church being built to supervise the quality of materials, and that the surveyors' have two assistants to inspect and measure work (ff.57-8).
