Administrative / biographical background

The Council House Maintenance Sub-Committee was appointed in October 1956 to report upon any improvements which could be implemented in order to improve the maintenance of the Council House, Town Hall, Judge?s Lodgings, and other public buildings in the city. The sub-committee met very infrequently, almost annually, and in July 1968 changed its name to the Public Buildings Sub-Committee.
