'Everybody breaking and ruined at Wycombe. A very respectable inhabitant, being ruined, tried to hang himself this morning but was cut down in time' (4 Feb); mishap to the Maid of Kent (27 Oct); 'Purchased a most capital equestrian picture' (28 Oct).
