Description (What the record is about)

The contents of a former box file of correspondence received, copy out-letters, etc., relating in part to a disputed right of way, 1906, and a highway diversion (1884), 1897-99, but in the main to matters concerning property in the vicinity of Shore's Mill near Petherton Bridge. Subjects include inclosure of waste or purchase of small piece, sale to Ilminster Turnpike Trustees, 1829, and boundary disputes.
Documents include photographs of derelict mill buildings, 1899, sketch plans of the area, 1828, 1895, and letter dated January 1831 referring to disturbed state of countryside [following Nov. 1830 riots]. The two earliest letters, 1757, are addressed to John Rodbard and relate to tithes due from the Shore family.
