Administrative / biographical background

Mr. Alfred Harrison was born at 3 Ivy Grove, Hulme on April 6th, 1914. When he left school he went to work for Dunlop until the War. He returned to Dunlop for 2 years and then went to work for National Westminster Bank, King Street. Donor's father, Jack Harrison was born in 1879 in Bonsall Street, near the old barracks. He was a cycle mechanic and did a lot of work on racing bikes for professionals. He died in 1931. Donor's mother, Minnie, nee Coldron. She only ever worked during the War (when Jack was in France) as a tram cleaner (nights) at Princess Road Garage.

Mother: maiden name Coldron born 1879, died 1970 married June 30th 1900.

Father: born 1879, died 1931 married June 30th 1900.

They had eight children

Billie: born 1889, died 1963.

Millie: born 1903 - she married someone called George and went to live in Macclesfield.

Charlie: born 1905, died 1971 - he worked at Dunlop (Hulme).

Harry: born 1911, died 1976.

Donor: born 1914, married Marjorie Clark from Kendal. She came to Manchester with her mother when her fatherm a railway signalman died.

Eric: - who works at Trafford Park.

Rennie: she married Harry Winstanley who works at Salford Town Hall.

Percy: he works at the G.P.O. in Stockport. He was in the R.A.F. during the Second World War and was due to invade Burma when they dropped an atom bomb, so he was "saved".

Uncle Harry Coldron: born 1876, died 1935. He married Esther Harrison (mother's aunt) in October 1878. She was born in 1876 and died in 1935.

Grandad William Coldron: born 1845.

Grandma Fanny Coldron: born 1846, died 1904.
