Salt Union:- formed 1888 (as a limited company) by a London syndicate which bought out and merged approx 60 salt manufacturers in Cheshire, Worcs, Middlesborough and Ireland. Series 1-12 comprise records relating to the central administration of the company and individual works (including some records of antecedent firms). Records relating specifically to individual works have not been separately organised as they do not survive in sufficient quantity to warrant this. For records of associated organisations see series 13.
