These two groups of documents, which are apparently unconnected, were deposited by Folkestone Library, Museum and Art Gallery in 1967. In 1969 the library sent another document; its connection to the former transfer remained unnoticed, and it was listed separately as AMS 5533. In 2004, in the course of preparing the lists for submission to the Access to Archives website, the link between the documents was established and the former AMS 5533 added to AMS 5596 as AMS 5596/1/2. At the same time the opportunity was taken to divide AMS 5596, formerly listed in a single sequence, into two sub-fonds, the better to reflect the distinction between its component parts.
At the same time a further deposit by Folkestone Library, ACC 1040 of 14 January 1970, was added as AMS 5596/3/1.
