Tewkesbury Rural Hospital was founded in 1865 in The Oldbury. It was originally supported by voluntary contributions, but in 1910 it was placed under a joint hospital board of Tewkesbury Borough and Tewkesbury Rural District, which was abolished in 1938. A new hospital was opened in Barton Street in 1934, and is still in use [1980]. Since 1948 the administration has been combined with that of Holm Hospital, Tewkesbury, and since 1949 with Tredington Hospital. The records reflect this grouping.
