The cricket club is said to have been formed in 1840, with a ground at Thatch Leach Lane, but there is no certain evidence of this. The club subsequently moved to Stack Meadow, and in 1891/2, the first tennis courts were added. In 1906, the club moved again to Heys, and a bowling green was added in 1914, when the club acquired its current name, and a new management structure with an executive committee and three separate sections running the three sports.
These records were deposited before 1986 by the club.
