ff1-3. 23 Aug.1557 Crownmote: proceedings in a case against John Collie, alias Collier of Chester, tailor, and William Norton of Chester, tailor, that of 29 July 1557 they broke into the shop of John Lovet of Chester, Hatmaker, and stole 12 'spanes felts' each one worth 3s., 5 'taffyta hattes' each one worth 4s., 4 'thru'med hattes each one worth 7s., one English hat worth 12d., a velvet cap worth 6s., ½ ell of cloth called sarsenet worth 3s., a piece of cloth called a 'remnant of taffita' worth 5s. belonging to John Lovet; a velvet cap worth 6s. belonging to William Williams, gent., a hat called 'aspaynes felt' worth 6s. belonging to William Dodd; and two 'taffita hattes' the owner of which was not known; also that on the same day the said John and William broke into the shop of Ralph Calveley of Chester, tailor, and stole a petticoat worth 18d. belonging to James Leycetor, 2 yards of red woollen cloth worth 5s., three quarters of black cloth called 'redd fustian' worth 10d., one and a half quarters of cloth called 'karsie' worth 16d. belonging to John Newhall, 1¼ yards of woolen cloth called 'black Kaersie' worth 4s., the owner of which was not known; ¾ of black woollen cloth called 'blacke Kaersey' worth 2s. belonging to Thomas Burges; 3½ yards of black woollen cloth worth 20d., belonging to Thomas Barneston. Not guilty.

ff4-6. Examinations of the said John Collie, and of John Morres, servant to Adam ?Harding' and of Robert Barker of Warrington relating to the same. Incomplete.
