Gallantry Notes: During operations lasting for five days he set the highest example of coolness and devotion to duty to all near him controlling the movement of sixteen guns with great skill. When in the act of placing his guns on a crest he found the right flank exposed. He thereupon placed the guns in suitable positions and then ralled several infantry sections who had been detached from their units. Finally he rushed his guns to the crest with the greatest dash and skill where he engaged the enemy successfully with direct fire and enabled an advance to continue.;
