Description

Solicitor's papers found in County Hall and deriving mainly from the private practice business of Thomas Tindal and his son Acton Tindal, successively Clerks of the Peace, and of their successors, Edward Baines and William Crouch. The firm was known in turn as: Tindal, Tindal & Son, Tindal & Baines, Baines & Crouch, Crouch. Some of the papers relate to families (de Veulle, Uhthoff, etc.) with which the Tindals were connected by marriage. Also included is a quantity of political correspondence of Acton Tindal for Aylesbury elections, 1850-59 (Boxes 36-38) and papers relating to railway projects, 1836-63 (Box 46). Some additional material from this source was transferred at various dates to the Bucks. Archaeological Society and is now among the collection of B.A.S. deeds since deposited at the C.R.O.
