Custodial history

Deposited by Vicar and PCC except the following: accession 4544, items P76 IN 4/7, OV 4/3, CH 1/6-1/10 and 2/2-2/13 and SC 3/10 and 4/1-4/7, which were deposited by Cheltenham District Health Authority: they were found in a locked fireproof safe in the cellar of Lexham Lodge, Copt Elm Road, Charlton Kings. This building was formerly the offices of Charlton Kings Urban District Council, and it was presumably through some arrangement for the safe deposit of these records that they found their way to this cellar. Following local government reorganisation Lexham Lodge was taken over by the Gloucestershire Area Health Authority for community nursing purposes. Accession 4410, items P76 CW 3/18 and MI 2/1, was deposited by Canon Eric Evans, who found them among the papers of the late Archdeacon Walter Wardle, a former incumbent of Charlton Kings. Items P76a OV 8/1, CH 1/1 and 1/2 were deposited by Charlton Kings Urban District Council
