North Bersted is a hamlet of the parish of South Bersted. A Mission Room was opened at Cross Cottage, North Bersted in August 1881, and in July 1894 a Mission Church of the Holy Cross was erected as a chapel-of-ease to St. Mary Magdalene, South Bersted, and was licensed for the performance of services. The holding of baptisms at Holy Cross began in 1945, and the solemnisation of marriages in 1946. The church has no burial ground, and therefore there are no burial registers
