William Farquhar, Resident at Singapore 1819 to 1823, and removed from his Civil Office on 28th April 1823 and from command of the Garrison on 22nd May by Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, Lieutenant-Governor of Fort Marlborough (Original Draft). He was succeeded as Resident by Dr. John Crawfurd, author of the History of the Indian Archipelago and the Descriptive Dictionary of the Indian Islands.
