Administrative / biographical background

St. Michael's Lodge was granted a warrant to meet as No. 290 by the Antients' Grand Lodge on 11 September 1795 and named in 1804. In 1795 the Lodge met at the Dundee Arms, Nightingale Lane, Wapping, London. After the union between the Antients' and Moderns' Grand Lodges, the Lodge was given the number No. 367. In 1832 this number was changed to No. 255 but received its present number as No. 211 in 1863. The Lodge has met at numerous inns and taverns across London but now meets at the Civil Service Club, 13-15 Great Soctland Yard, London, England.
