The donor's mother, Emma Barton (born in 1898) was one of about 8 children. The Barton family came originally from St. Helen's and then moved to Claribel St, Ardwick. After her marriage the donor's mother ran a "cabbage and ribs" shop on Ashton Old Road for a few years until c.1935
