Description

Fifty glass slides, taken by Lieut Col F M Bailey, some of which have been published in Bailey, Mission to Tashkent (1946), as indicated in individual entries.

Marked with titles, the slides are nearly all precisely dated (written by hand), and are numbered (red circular stickers, 1-51). Copy negative, contact sheet and low contrast 'postcard' print made (2004) for each slide.

In addition to Mission to Tashkent, for a more immediate account see Bailey, "In Russian Turkestan Under the Bolsheviks," Journal of the Central Asian Society, VII (1921), pp. 49-69, the text of a lecture Bailey gave to the Central Asian Society on 18 November, 1920.
