Immediate source of acquisition

The parish records of Christ Church, Surbiton Hill were deposited by the Vicar and Parochial Church Council in July 1982.

Administrative / biographical background

The ecclesiastical parish was created out of St Mark's district in 1863 and the baptism and marriage registers begin in 1864. The first meeting of the Church Committee was held on 21 November 1863 in "the Large Room in the Ewell Road."

The boundaries were altered in 1876 (with the creation of St Matthews) and 1931.

A mission hall church, Emmanuel, at Grand Avenue Tolworth was licensed for divine service in 1935.
