Administrative / biographical background

The Inter-Faith Consultative Group was set up in 1980 to act as a link between the Board for Mission and Unity and the British Council of Churches Committee for Relations with People of Other Faiths, and to advise the Board on Inter-Faith questions. It also acted as an information point for Church of England bodies concerned with Inter-Faith matters. The first meeting of the Group took place on 9 September 1980 at Church House, Westminster, under the Chairmanship of the Bishop of Wolverhampton. Mary Tanner, BMU Theological Secretary, was Secretary to the Group. See also BMU/BCC/CRPOF.
