Description

He was accompanied by Mr Allan and Mr Daish. The discussions also touched on the 'Atlantic' and the low altitude bomber. It was agreed as follows: January 1954 Armstrong Siddeley Motors will deliver a Screamer mock-up, March 1954 Armstrong Siddeley Motors will deliver a Viper at 1640lbs thrust for running on the Avro rig, August 1954 Armstrong Siddeley Motors will deliver the first flight Viper un-reheated at 1640 lbs thrust for installation in the first prototype, September 1954 Armstrong Siddeley Motors will deliver a complete set of components for installation in the airframe. These are components supplied by Armstrong Siddeley Motors which do not form part of the rocket unit proper, October 1954 Armstrong Siddeley Motors will deliver the second flight Viper at 1640 lbs thrust which is to be used in place of a rocket motor for the first prototype aircraft. This engine will be exactly the same as the earlier engine except it will drive a hydraulic pump from the front compressor, January 1955 Armstrong Siddeley Motors will deliver a complete Viper power plant fitted with nozzle reheat; Armstrong Siddeley Motors will also deliver the complete flight rocket motor unit
