Includes details of costs incurred on presenting a private bill on justices' lodgings, Chelmsford (Q/SBb 416/7); two servants stole wine from a cask in a chaise-house, by sucking it through a straw 'till they got quite drunk', Little Ilford (Q/SBb 416/30); notice given by the churchwardens and overseers of the poor (six signatures) that they are applying for a court order for an inhabitant to contribute towards the maintenance of his pauper grandchildren, Braintree (Q/SBb 416/330); letter from Charles Round on liability of Colchester Castle to assessment for the poor rate and reply (4 papers) (Q/SBb 416/55); list of the number of dissenters' meeting houses licensed from 1760 to 1808 and of ministers taking the oaths, made in accordance with an order of the House of Lords. [No details.] (Q/SBb 416/56); appeal against a poor rate assessment, mentioning a water mill, Lawford (Q/SBb 416/58); riotous behaviour, against the inhabitants of Brightlingsea, of labourers employed on the fortifications at St. Osyth and Great Clacton (6 papers; few details).
