Description

For the years 1455-7, 1459 and 1460 the years given are regnal, beginning 1 September (the commencement of Henry VI's reign) and not of mayoral election, which thus appear to date the accounts a year late. Those for the year 1463/4 are missing. Additional matter is entered as follows:

fo. 1 Charter dated 26 October 1 Henry [?] under the title 'Pro Libertate Ville,' granting to the men of Rye quittance from shire and hundred, and that none should be put on assizes, juries or recognitions by reason of lands outside the liberty.

Charter dated 10 November [1404] granting a market.(See No. 45/10 for full calendar.)

fo. 38 Certificates of seizure at sea.

fo. 51r. Ordinance for brewers to pay a maltod, 29 August 1456.

fo. 56r Memorandum that on election day 1457 the town of Sandwich was struck (district') by the French captains Floket and Brasey.

fo. 109v Writs of the Lord Warden requiring persons to appear before him, 1449, 1460.
