Articles of agreement
1. The Rt.Hon. Henry Arthur Earl of Powis
2. William Grove of Shelve, yeoman
The Earl of Powis in consideration of £100 from Grove and for £1,900 to be paid by Grove, agrees with him that the Earl will on or before 25 December next make a good title to the feehold and inheritance of the several houses and lands below, and on or before 25 March next by conveyance and assurances in the law as counsel of Grove advises, convey & c to Grove and his heirs free from incumbrances (except a lease heretofore granted of the tenement below in the possession of Owen Evans in the village of Weston for lives, 2 of which lives are now in being) and a chief rent of 2/6 p.a. out of the said tenement in possession of Arthur Williams, and one chief rent of 2d p.a. out of a tenement below in the possession of said Owen Evans, to the Lord of the Manor of Chirbury), the fee simple and inheritance of the messuage, farm, tenement and lands in Great Weston in the parish of Chirbury (Arthur Williams).
A small tenement in Great Weston (Owen Evans)
Another tenement and lands in Little Weston (John Jones) doing suit and service for the premises at the courts leet and courts baron of the Earl for the Manor of Chirbury.
Wm Grove agrees on or before 25 March next to pay to the Earl of Powis £1,900 which with £100 makes £2000 in full for the absolute purchase of the fee simple and inheritance of the property above.
Expense of conveyance to be paid by Grove. If a good title cannot be made to the premises by the Earl, then he will refund the £100 to Grove. If Grove fails to complete the purchase, the Earl will keep the £100 and resell the premises. Signed: Powis, William Groves
