Administrative / biographical background

St. Catherine's Church in Scholefield Street was consecrated in 1878. A parish was assigned to it out of the parish of St. Clement's, Nechells in 1879 and the living, a vicarage, was in the gift of the Aston Trustees. The church was severely damaged by enemy action in November 1940 and was closed for public worship in 1945. In 1951, the benefice was united with that of St. Matthew, Duddeston and the church of St. Catherine was subsequently demolished

A mission room in the parish, in Cranbury Street, was licensed for public worship 1908-26
