Folios 312-313. Letter from Sir John Carter, Mayor of Portsmouth, reporting that he had sent to gaol Hugh Cowell, brought ashore from the Seaflower by Captain Pierpoint. Pierpoint had informed him that he had the Home Secretary's orders to deliver Cowell to England following his arrest nearly a year ago at Cape Coast Castle for the murder of James McMillem [McMillan], who had attempted to break into his house. Carter asks for instructions on how to proceed.
